ROSEMONT, Pa. – Freshman
Mya Burnett knocked down a season-high 16 kills to lead the Centenary University volleyball team in a hard fought 3-2 loss at Rosemont on Saturday.
It was a back-and-forth battle between the two former conference foes. Rosemont took the early lead with a 25-17 first set win. The Cyclones battled back to take the second set, 25-17. The Ravens grabbed a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-14 third set victory. Centenary forced the match to a decisive fifth set with a 25-17 fourth set win. Rosemont eventually claimed the win with a 15-10 victory in the fifth set.
Burnett finished with 16 kills, three digs and a service ace to lead the Cyclones in the contest. Sophomore
Alyssa Bizzarro contributed seven kills, 16 digs and six service aces while senior
Amelia Rodriguez had 27 assists and seven service aces.
Madeline McCarthy had 11 kills and eight digs for Rosemont while
Evora Kaiwi had 34 assists.
Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 5 when it hosts Neumann at 7 p.m. to open Atlantic East Conference play.
