MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Centenary University softball team opened its 2020 season with a pair of wins on Saturday at the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach.
Centenary opened the season with an 8-2 victory over Waynesburg University. The Cyclones then followed that up with a 4-2 win versus the University of Saint Joseph.
"It was a great start to the season today," said head coach 
Kim Broking. "Everyone contributed and we played with a lot of energy."

Senior 
Justine Stefura, junior 
Courtney Deloughery and freshman 
Jenna Glinko all scored two runs each to lead the Cyclones to the win over Waynesburg.
The Cyclones plated three runs in the first two innings to take the early advantage. Deloughery scored on freshman 
Maggie Lenahan's RBI single in the first. Glinko reached on a fielder's choice in the second which allowed senior 
Jessica Hewitt to score and she later crossed the plate on an error.
Waynesburg got one run back in the top of the third before the Cyclone offense went back to work.
Centenary scored two in the third as Hewitt had an RBI groundout and junior 
Meghan Hughes scored on a wild pitch. The Cyclones led 5-1 at that point.
After plating a run in the fourth, the Cyclones put two more on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Stefura had an RBI triple and later crossed the plate on junior 
Tessa Ferentinos' groundout.
Waynesburg scored one more run in the top of the seventh, but it was not enough as Centenary claimed the 8-2 win.
Hewitt earned the win in the circle after giving up one run on six hits in four innings of work. 
Emma Kubalak took the loss after surrendering eight runs on seven hits in seven innings in the circle.
Stefura had two hits and two runs scored for the Cyclones while Lenahan added two hits and an RBI.

The Cyclones took an early lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Glinko singled home senior 
Juli Wright before Stefura stole home.
The scored remained 2-0 in favor of the Cyclones until the bottom of the sixth. Glinko came through with her second RBI single of the game, this time plating sophomore 
Sandra Cosenzo. The Cyclones added a second run in the inning for a 4-0 advantage.
Saint Joseph got a pair of runs in the top of the seventh but that was it as Centenary claimed the 4-2 win.
Hewitt picked up her second win of the day after surrendering just two runs with six strikeouts in the complete game effort. 
Julia Annecchiarico took the loss after giving up four runs on nine hits.
Glinko was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for the Cyclones while Wright and Cosenzo each had a hit and a run scored.
The Cyclones are back in action on Sunday, March 8 as they take on PSU Harrisburg at 9:30 a.m. and Eureka at 11:30 a.m.
