Zeke Giorlando scored a pair of goals and fellow freshman
JT Doyle made 19 saves to lead the Centenary University men's lacrosse team in a loss to in-state rival Drew University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Rangers jumped out to an 7-3 lead at the half and used a big second half to claim the 20-3 victory.
Drew scored the first two goals of the game before Giorlando got the Cyclones on the board at 5:03 of the first quarter.
The Cyclones scored a pair of goals in the second quarter as Giorlando netted his second of the day while junior
Timothy Kaiser III scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Doyle made 12 first half saves, several of which came on point blank shots, for the Cyclones but the visitors led 7-3 at the half.
Craig Wilkie scored all five of his goals in the second half while
Kevin Goettlich and
Nicholas Polacek each had three as Drew secured the win.
Michael McGeeney played the first three quarters in goal and made two saves to earn the win.
PJ Hoffman had one save in the final period. Doyle's 19 saves were the most by a Cyclone since they made 20 against Kean last year.
Giorlando led the Cyclones with two goals and a ground ball while Kaiser III had the other tally. Sophomore
Christopher Festa led the defensive efforts with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Wilkie led Drew with six points on five goals and one assist.
The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, March 7 as they travel to Wesley for a 2 p.m. game.
