Zeke Giorlando had a goal and an assist while fellow freshman
Andrew Marchese scored his first career goal as the Centenary University men's lacrosse team fell to Hood College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Blazers opened up a 13-1 halftime advantage and added five goals in the second half for the 18-3 win.
Hood jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 15 minutes of play. Cody Upman scored three goals for the Blazers during that period.
Hood scored the first four goals of the second period before junior
Timothy Kaiser III got the Cyclones on the board, with his team leading seventh goal of the year, at 6:30.
Hood scored the final three goals of the period heading into the break and led 13-1.
After Hood scored a man-up goal to start the scoring in the third, Marchese responded with a man-up goal of his own for the Cyclones. Marchese's goal came off an assist from Giorlando at 8:16 of the third.
The two teams continued to battle as Giorlando found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season with 29 seconds left in the third.
Hood eventually claimed the 18-3 victory.
Kyle Morgenroth played the first half in goal for the Blazers and did not make a save while earning the win. Freshman
JT Doyle continued to step up in goal for the Cyclones as he made 16 saves in the loss. Doyle added a team-best four caused turnovers in the game.
Giorlando added a caused turnover to go with his goal and assist for the Cyclones. Marchese had three faceoff wins to go along with his goal. Junior
Gavin Ciccia had three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Upman finished with five goals and three assists for Hood.
The Cyclones remaining in Virginia Beach where they will take on Cazenovia on Thursday, March 12 at 12 p.m.
