VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Freshman
Jason Toledo had a goal and 10 ground balls to lead the Centenary University men's lacrosse team in an 8-2 loss to Cazenovia College on Thursday afternoon.
Connor Smith had three goals and three assists as the Wildcats opened up an 8-0 advantage at halftime.
Jake McDermott added a goal and two assists in that stretch.
Toledo got the Cyclones on the board with his first collegiate tally at the 12:35 mark of the third quarter.
Fellow freshman
Connor Zombek struck for his first career goal at 11:52 of the third quarter, which made it an 8-2 game.
Both teams had chances over the remainder of the third quarter and the fourth quarter but neither could capitalize and Cazenovia claimed the 8-2 win.
Matt Deyette made 17 saves in the win for Cazenovia. Freshman
JT Doyle finished with 16 saves for the Cyclones.
Toledo had the goal and a game-high 10 ground balls for the Cyclones. Zombek finished with two caused turnovers to go with his goal. Doyle contributed five caused turnovers from his spot in goal while sophomore
Christopher Festa had four ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Freshman
Andrew Marchese had 10 face off wins for the Cyclones.
Smith had three goals, three assists and seven ground balls for Cazenovia.
