Wilson's Two Tallies Help Men's Soccer Defeat Bryn Athyn, 4-1

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Sophomore Shane Wilson's first goal of the day broke a 1-1 tie and helped lift the Centenary University men's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Bryn Athyn College on Saturday afternoon in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener for both squads.

The Cyclones struck first in the game as sophomore Kenneth Pinedo headed home a free kick from fellow sophomore Jahn Lopez at 8:06. It was Pinedo's first career goal for Centenary.

Bryn Athyn drew the game even on an Owen Ovecka goal at 9:06.

Wilson gave the Cyclones the lead back for good with his first of the day at 24:34. The sophomore was able to head home a pass from freshman Brandon Strocchia.

Centenary added to its lead just over five minutes later as Wilson knocked a pass from senior Matt Miller home.

The Cyclones carried that 3-1 lead into the halftime break.

The two teams battled in the second half but the only goal came at 66:00 off the foot of junior Tom Parry. Sophomore Besnik Hadzovic and freshman Luke Wawrin picked up the assists on Parry's fifth goal of the season.

The Centenary defense held the Lions off the board in the second half to secure the 4-1 win.

Sophomore Will Hodic made three saves to earn the win in goal. DJ Eldridge made eight saves in the loss for Bryn Athyn.

The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they travel to Rosemont for a 3 p.m. game.
