Baseball Falls to Keystone in Doubleheader Action

LA PLUME, Pa. – Sophomore Jonathan Pezzato had a pair of hits in game two to lead the Centenary University baseball team in doubleheader action at Keystone College on Saturday afternoon.

The Giants won the first game 12-3 and then claimed a 15-2 victory in game two.

Game One Recap (Keystone Won 12-3)
Keystone jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first two innings as Chris Panzarella had an RBI single in each of those innings.

A five run fourth inning gave the home team a 10-0 advantage in the contest. Devin Reed had an RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch before Nick Carlini hit a three-run home run.

The Cyclones got on the board with a three-run sixth inning. Centenary loaded the bases as freshman Christopher Gass drew a walk, senior Ryan Jasiecki singled and freshman Paul Links got hit by a pitch. Keystone got the first out of the inning on a strikeout but the ball got away and Gass scored on the wild pitch. Junior Chris Miller lifted a sac fly to right field that scored Jasiecki while Links scored on junior Cole Fratesi's double.

Keystone tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth and claimed the 12-3 victory.

Nathan Hinkley picked up the win for Keystone after giving up three runs on five hits in six innings of action. Junior Christopher Lilly suffered his first loss of the season after giving up 10 runs in three innings.

Carlini had three hits, three runs and four RBIs for the Giants.

Miller and Fratesi each had a hit and an RBI for the Cyclones.

Game Two Recap (Keystone Won 15-2)
Keystone scored four runs in the first and added another in the second for the early 5-0 lead.

Centenary got on the board in the third as freshman Keiji Ipposhi led off with a single and moved to second on junior Jon Fleck's walk. A balk moved both runners up a base and Ipposhi scored as Keystone got the first out of the inning. Jasiecki lifted a sac fly to center field to score Fleck.

Keystone scored three runs in the third for an 8-2 advantage.

The Giants capped the scoring with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 15-2 win.

Christopher Adams earned the win over Keystone after giving up two runs on four hits in four innings of action. Junior Nick Scotto took the loss for the Cyclones after giving up four runs on three hits in 0.2  of an inning.

Panzarella led Keystone with four hits, three runs and three RBIs.

Pezzato had two hits for the Cyclones while Ipposhi had a hit and a run scored.

The Cyclones are back in action on Wednesday, April 10 when they host Penn State Brandywine in a doubleheader at Diamond Nation starting at 3:30 p.m.
