HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior
Nicole Soriero had a goal and four draw controls to lead the Centenary University women's lacrosse team in a loss to Bryn Athyn College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
Payton Gormley scored eight goals and assisted on three others to lead the Lions to the 24-1 victory.
Bryn Athyn jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game and eventually took a 15-1 advantage at the half.
Soriero's goal came at the 6:16 mark of the first half as she received a pass from junior
Kaylee Bennett and battled through traffic to the goal. It was Soriero's team leading 12th goal of the season.
Gormley scored four times in the second half as Bryn Athyn closed out the 24-1 win.
Sarah Smith did not need to make a save to earn the win in goal for Bryn Athyn. Senior
Renee Hack made nine saves including several on direct shots for the Cyclones.
Gormley added three ground balls and four caused turnovers to go with her 11 points on the day for Bryn Athyn.
Tina Tu contributed four goals, one assist, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Soriero finished with the goal, two ground balls and four draw controls for the Cyclones. Bennett contributed an assist, two ground balls and three caused turnovers on the day.
The Cyclones are back in action as they close out the regular season by hosting Cedar Crest on Saturday, April 27 at 3 p.m. The Cyclones will honor Hack, Soriero and
Jess Petty before that game.
