Pezzato Drives in Two as Baseball Falls at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa . – Sophomore Jonathan Pezzato drove in a pair of runs to lead the Centenary University baseball team in a 6-2 loss at Delaware Valley University on Tuesday afternoon.

The Aggies struck first with a run in the bottom of the second as Luke Hendricks had a two-out RBI single down the left field line.

Neal Flogel had a two-run single in the third, which extended the Delaware Valley lead to 3-0.

The home team tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and took a 5-0 advantage.

The Cyclones broke through for a run in the top of the fifth. Senior Chase Koffel led off the frame with a walk and moved to second on a passed ball. A balk from the Aggies pitcher put Koffel on third base with no outs. Pezzato then lifted a fly ball to right field, which allowed Koffel to score.

The Aggies added to their lead in the bottom of the seventh as Hendricks reached on a fielder's choice and the run scored.

Centenary plated a run in the top of the ninth as senior Casey Brown was hit by a pitch leading off the inning. Freshman Korey Vough reached on an infield single and a sac bunt moved the runners up a base. Pezzato had an RBI groundout that allowed Brown to cross the plate.

That was all the Cyclones could get as Delaware Valley claimed the 6-2 victory.

Ryan Georgiadis got the win for Delaware Valley as he went one inning and gave up one run. Sophomore Manny Miqueo started the game for the Cyclones and gave up a run on a hit in two innings.
