ROSEMONT, Pa. – Junior
Kaylee Bennett recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Centenary University women's lacrosse team in a hard fought 12-6 loss to Rosemont College on Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
The Cyclones jumped out to an early 2-1 lead on goals from Bennett and senior
Nicole Soriero.
Rosemont tied the game at 2-2 before junior
Juliana Arias' goal at 11:18 gave the visitors a 3-2 edge.
The Ravens scored three of the next four goals and took a 5-4 advantage with 5:13 to go in the half.
Bennett's second goal of the day tied the game tied the game at 5-5 with 2:33 showing on the clock.
Rosemont used a goal from
Emily Johnston at the 1:41 mark to take a 6-5 lead at the half.
The home team scored the first two goals of the second half and pushed its lead to 8-5 with 27:58 to play in the game.
Bennett completed her hat trick at 14:48 and pulled the Cyclones to within two, 8-6.
Rosemont scored the final four goals of the game, including two from
Lauren Lightcap and secured the 12-6 win.
Isabel Acosta made eight saves to earn the win in goal for the Ravens. Senior
Renee Hack recorded 14 saves in the loss for the Cyclones.
Lightcap led Rosemont with four goals and three draw controls.
Bennett finished with three goals, a ground ball and a caused turnover for the Cyclones. Arias contributed a goal, a ground ball and a caused turnover as well.
The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, April 13 when they host Notre Dame (Md.) at 3 p.m.
