MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Freshman
Paul Links drove in a run with an RBI groundout as the Centenary University baseball team fell to Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday afternoon in Myrtle Beach.
Mount Aloysius got the scoring started in the bottom of the second. The Mounties put three runs on the board, one of which came when
Sam Keibler hit a home run to right center.
An RBI hit from
Douglas Smith in the bottom of the third gave Mount Aloysius a 4-0 advantage.
RBI doubles from Smith and
Matt MCourt highlighted a big fifth inning for the Mounties. Mount Aloysisu increased its lead in the game to 9-0.
The Cyclones broke through for a run in the top of the seventh as freshman
Christopher Gass doubled down the left field line. Gass took third and came around to score on Links' groundout.
Mount Aloysius claimed the 14-1 win.
Ryan McElwee earned the win on the mount for Mount Aloysius as he went eight innings and gave up one run on four hits. Sophomore
Manny Miqueo took the loss for the Cyclones after surrendering three runs on three hits in two innings of action.
Keibler and Smith each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Mount Aloysius.
Junior
Jon Fleck recorded his fourth multi-hit game of the season as he finished with two.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Thursday, March 14 when they take on Penn College in Myrtle Beach at 3:30 p.m.
