McKenzie and Jacobs Lead Cyclones in Loss at Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa . – Freshmen Jessica McKenzie and Victoria Jacobs each scored 10 points but a big second half lifted Keystone College to a 63-41 win over the Centenary University women's basketball team on Friday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

McKenzie has now scored in double figures in five straight games for the Cyclones.

Centenary got off to a quick start in the first quarter as McKenzie's lay-up at 7:30 gave the visitors an 8-3 advantage.

The two teams battled on each end of the floor as a basket from junior Dayna Wich gave the Cyclones an 11-7 edge with 3:57 showing on the clock.

A lay-up from Wich at 1:23 gave the Cyclones a 15-12 lead after 10 minutes of play.

A lay-up from freshman Taylor Bossert allowed Centenary to take a 17-14 lead with 7:29 remaining until the half.

The Cyclones and Giants traded points as a lay-up from Jacobs at 4:44 tied the game at 21-21.

Keystone scored four of the final six points in the stanza and took a 25-23 lead at the half.

Keystone used an 11-0 run over the middle part of the third quarter to extend its lead to 45-26 through three periods of play.

The two squads battled back-and-forth in the fourth quarter before Keystone eventually claimed the 63-41 win.

Keystone shot 39.7 percent from the field in the game but had the hot hand in the second half were they posted a 51.7 field goal percentage. The Giants also knocked down nine three-pointers in the contest. Centenary posted a 34.9 field goal percentage for the game and was 10-for-15 from the foul line. The Giants held a 34-33 edge in the rebounding battle.

McKenzie finished with eight rebounds in addition to her team-high 10 points for the Cyclones. Jacobs added three steals and three rebounds as she tied McKenzie for the team lead in points scored. Bossert finished with seven points while Wich added four points, four assists and three rebounds.

Khaliah Gordon paced Keystone with 25 points off the bench while Mac Oribello added 23 points.

Centenary is back in action when it hosts the College of New Rochelle on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.
