WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson University scored a goal in each half and claimed a 2-0 victory over the Centenary University women's soccer team on Wednesday night.
The Pioneers got on the board in the 36th minute as
Morgan Bringoli headed home a ball that was inserted via a corner kick.
William Paterson added to its lead in the 89th minute as
Marisa Adelman scored off a pass from
Michaela Stanton. That 2-0 advantage proved to be the difference for the home team.
The Cyclones had their chances in the contest as they recorded 13 shots, including seven in the first half. Junior
Chloe Christopher led the way with six shots, four of which were on goal while senior
Amanda Benoit added three shots, one of which was on goal.
Erica Hickey made eight saves to earn the win in goal for the Pioneers. Freshman
Rachel Colt made eight saves in the loss for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 11 as they host FDU Florham at 3 p.m.
