Men's Soccer Opens CSAC Play with a 2-0 Road Win at Clarks Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – Freshman Sebastian Montoya assisted on a pair of goals as the Centenary University men's soccer team opened Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play with a 2-0 victory at Clarks Summit on Saturday.

The Cyclones got on the board at 9:29 as Montoya fed sophomore Eric Nugent with a solid pass and Nugent punched it home for the goal. It was Nugent's first goal of the year.

The visitors maintained that 1-0 advantage into the half as both teams took six shots in the first 45 minutes. Senior Devon Warne made two saves in the first stanza.

The Cyclones added to their lead at 72:29 as senior Josh Weiss scored his team leading second goal of the year. On the play, Montoya picked up his second helper of the day and team-best fourth assist of the year.

Those goals proved to be enough as Centenary picked up the 2-0 road victory.

Warne finished with five saves to earn the win in goal. It was the senior's second shutout of the season and 13th of his career. Evan Rarick finished with nine saves in the loss for Clarks Summit.

Centenary finished with a 20-10 advantage in shots. Weiss and fellow senior Jared Miele each took four shots in the contest.

The Cyclones are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 26 when they host King's College at 4 p.m.
