IMMACULATA, Pa. – Junior
Chris Snow scored with 2:34 to play which lifted the Centenary University men's lacrosse team to a 12-11 win at Immaculata University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
Snow's goal capped a 3-0 run by the Cyclones to close out the game. Centenary had trailed 11-9 with 8:20 before rallying for the win.
Immaculata scored the first two goals of the game and led with 10:08 to go in the first quarter.
A goal from sophomore
Chris Howell at 9:50 jump started a 7-0 run that gave the Cyclones a 7-2 lead with 6:45 to go in the second period. Howell scored his second during that run while seniors
Michael Muff and
Nolan Gottshall each struck for a pair of goals.
Immaculata responded by scoring the next five goals in a run that bridged the second and third periods. That scoring spurt was capped by a goal from
Ethan Johnson, which tied the game at 7-7 with 10:04 left in the stanza.
Howell halted the Mighty Macs' run with his third goal of the game at 9:46 of the third period.
Back-to-back goals from
Mike Reardon gave Immaculata a 9-8 advantage with 8:06 left in the third.
Freshman
Kyle Mott tied the game at 9-9 with his second goal of the day at 7:36 of the stanza.
Reardon scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter as Immaculata took an 11-9 lead with 8:20 to go in the game.
Muff's third goal of the game pulled the Cyclones to within one, 11-10 with 4:49 showing on the clock.
Just 38 seconds later Centenary got the equalizer as Mott scored his third of the day, which made it an 11-11 game.
Snow scored the game-winning goal off a pass from Muff with 2:34 to play.
Immaculata got a pair of shots off in the final two minutes but one went wide and freshman
Wayne Safreed saved the second to seal the victory.
Safreed made 10 saves to earn the win in goal for the Cyclones.
Tyler Freas recorded nine saves in the loss for Immaculata.
Immaculata held a 39-36 edge in shots while the Cyclones won 20-of-27 faceoffs in the contest.
Muff led the Cyclones with five points on three goals and two assists while Gottshall contributed two goals and two assists. Mott finished with three goals and one assist for four points while Howell added three goals and 20 faceoff wins.
Reardon paced Immaculata with seven goals and two assists for nine points.
The Cyclones, who snapped a three game losing streak with the win, are 3-3 in the CSAC and tied for fourth place in the standings. Centenary will welcome Neumann, who it is tied with in the standings, to J.E. Reeves Jr. Field on Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m. in the regular season finale. The Cyclones will recognize their six seniors after that contest.
