ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Six different players scored a goal as the Centenary University women's lacrosse team picked up a big 16-5 win over Cedar Crest College on Monday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Senior
Erika Bath led all scorers with five goals in the contest while senior
Miranda Burns and sophomore
Brittany Gray each scored their first career goals in the contest.
The Cyclones struck for two early goals by junior
Kristin Karszen and Bath.
Cedar Crest got on the board with a goal from
Allison Churchill at 26:40.
Centenary responded with a 7-0 run and took a 9-1 lead with 3:10 to go in the first half. Bath had three goals during that stretch to complete her first hat trick of the season while Karszen scored her second of the day. Burns, freshman
Sydney D'Ortone and junior
Nicole Soriero all scored during that run as well.
Cedar Crest struck one more time in the first half as the Cyclones took a 9-2 lead at the break.
Each team scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second half and the Cyclones led 11-4.
Centenary then scored the next four goals and took a 15-4 advantage with 11:15 left on the clock. D'Ortone scored twice during that stretch while Karszen picked up a pair of helpers. Karszen's assists came on one of D'Ortone's goals and Burns' second of the night.
Asia Adams scored a goal for Cedar Crest before Centenary capped the scoring with a goal from Gray.
Junior
Renee Hack made six saves to earn the win in goal for the Cyclones.
Alexandria Marcou took the loss for Cedar Crest after making 17 saves.
The Cyclones held a 41-14 advantage in shots and won 15 of the game's 23 draw controls.
Bath paced the Cyclones with five goals and three ground balls. Karszen added three goals and two assists to go along with six ground balls and five draw controls. D'Ortone finished with four goals and three ground balls while Burns had two goals and three ground balls.
Churchill led Cedar Crest with two goals and four ground balls.
The Cyclones are back in action when they travel to DeSales on April 23 at 7 p.m.
