ASTON, Pa. – Strong pitching lifted Neumann University to a doubleheader sweep of the Centenary University softball team in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
The Knights earned a 7-0 win in game one and followed that up with an 8-0 victory in the nightcap.
Game One Recap (Neumann Won 7-0)
Neumann struck for three runs in the bottom of the first and an early lead in game one.
Kate Korte had a two run single in the inning.
The Knights pushed their lead to 5-0 on
Jackie Schneider's double in the second inning.
Neumann tacked on two more runs and claimed the 7-0 victory over the Cyclones.
The Cyclones' best chance came in the second as sophomore
Jessica Hewitt singled and sophomore
Juli Wright drew a one out walk to put two runners on but the Knights got the final two outs.
Jen Sieminski earned the win in the circle for the Knights as she allowed just two hits in seven innings of work. Senior
Sammie Darling suffered the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits in four innings of work.
Korte was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Neumann while
Kara Grogan went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Game Two Recap (Neumann Won 8-0)
Neumann got on the board with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second of game two.
Bri Lagroteria delivered a two run single in the frame for the Knights.
A three run third inning extended the Neumann advantage to 5-0.
Rachel Albertson,
Julia Cox and
Autumn Passarello all contributed RBI singles in the fourth inning and pushed the Knights' lead to 8-0.
The Cyclones loaded the bases in the top of the fifth on three straight singles from senior
Ashley Eisenstein, Wright and Clites but they were unable to push a run across the plate.
Taylor Naman turned in a complete game effort to earn the win in the circle for Neumann. She gave up seven hits in five innings of work. Darling suffered her second loss of the day after giving up eight runs in 3.2 innings of work.
Cox went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored while Korte was 2-for-2.
Wright reached base in all three of her plate appearances for the Cyclones. She was 2-for-2 with a walk while Clites went 2-for-3.
The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, April 14 when they host Immaculata at 1 p.m. The Cyclones will support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Man of the Year" competition at the games and fans are encouraged to make a donation for
Paul O'Hara, a cancer survivor and the father of women's basketball sophomore
Cailin O'Hara.
