MORRISTOWN, N.J. – A strong pitching performance from senior
Sammie Darling and a balanced offensive attack led the Centenary University softball team to a doubleheader sweep at the College of Saint Elizabeth on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cyclones held off a late charge by the Eagles for a 6-5 win in game one and then captured the nightcap by a 5-1 margin.
Game One Recap (Centenary Won 6-5)
The Cyclones got on the board with four runs in the top of the second inning. Senior
Raychel Piserchia had an RBI groundout before Darling laced a double down the left field line that scored sophomore
Juli Wright. Senior
Ashley Eisenstein drove in another run with a sacrifice fly before freshman
Tessa Ferentinos reached on an error that allowed a run to score.
Saint Elizabeth got one of those runs back in the third with a RBI single from
Teya Carr.

Carolyn Clites in fourth pushed the Centenary lead to 5-1.
Eisenstein's RBI single in the sixth put the visitors ahead 6-1.
Saint Elizabeth's sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the seventh and scored four runs but it was not enough.

Marielis Alicea and
Ashley VonHorn all drew bases loaded walks to force in a run.
However, Darling was able to get a strikeout with the bases loaded to preserve the 6-5 victory for the Cyclones.
Darling earned the win in the circle as she went 4.2 innings and allowed just one run while striking out six.
Alyssa Vega took the loss after giving up four runs in just 1.1 innings of work.
Six players recorded at least one hit for Centenary as Eisenstein and Wright led the way with two hits each. Eisenstein added two RBIs and a run scored while Wright had a run scored. Freshman
Courtney Deloughery had a hit and two runs scored for Centenary.
Neckolette Nedwell led the Eagles with two hits and two runs scored.
Game Two Recap (Centenary Won 5-1)
The Cyclones wasted little time getting on board in game two, as three of the first four batters reached in the first inning. Eisenstein led off with a single and when Saint Elizabeth's made an error on Ferentinos' sacrifice bunt attempt, Eisenstein came around to score. With one out, sophomore
Jessica Hewitt delivered a double to right center which scored Ferentinos.
Centenary took a 3-0 lead on Wright's RBI groundout in the top of the third.
Sophomore
Justine Stefura and Piserchia delivered RBI singles in the fifth when gave the Cyclones a 5-0 advantage in the game.
Saint Elizabeth put a run on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth but that was all the Eagles could manage as Centenary claimed the 5-1 win.
Darling picked up her second win of the day after tossing three innings of work and surrendering just three hits.
Alyssa Hampton took the loss after giving up five runs on 11 hits in seven innings for Saint Elizabeth.
Seven Cyclones recorded a hit in game two and that group was led Eisenstein who had three hits and a run scored. Clites and Hewitt each had two hits and a runs cored while Ferentinos had a hit and two runs scored.
Rachael Romer led Saint Elizabeth's with three hits and an RBI.
Centenary is back in action when it travels to Neumann for a doubleheader on Friday, April 13 at 3 p.m.
