HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Cabrini University recorded a doubleheader sweep of the Centenary University softball team on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
The Cavaliers battled for a 2-0 win in game one and took the nightcap by a 14-0 score.
Game One Recap (Cabrini Wins 2-0)
The Cavaliers got on the board in the top of the first as
Jess Giordano had an infield single to score
Chrissy Ferraro.
The score remained that way until the top of the fifth as
Darian Caputo singled to right field and
Aysiah Cintron crossed the plate.
The Cyclones had a chance in the bottom of the sixth as sophomore
Juli Wright and senior
Sammie Darling reached with one out but Cabrini was able to get out of trouble and preserve the lead for the win.
Giordano earned the win in the circle as she gave up just five hits in seven innings of work. Darling suffered the tough luck loss after giving up just two runs on six hits in the complete game effort.
Giordano and Cintron each had two hits to lead the Cavaliers.
Senior
Ashley Eisenstein led the Cyclones with a pair of hits.
Game Two Recap (Cabrini Wins 14-0)
Game two saw Cabrini get going in the first inning as Ferraro had an RBI double and Giordano plated a run with an RBI groundout.
The Cavaliers extended their lead to 5-0 in the top of the second inning. Ferraro drove in a pair of runs with a triple to right field in the frame.
Cabrini scored eight runs on nine hits in the fourth inning and took a 13-0 lead in the game. Ferraro had a pair of RBI singles in the inning for the Cavaliers.
Cabrini capped its scoring with a run in the top of the fifth as
Amber Seaman delivered an RBI double to left center.
Casey Schueren earned her third win of the season in the circle after giving up just three hits in five innings of work. Sophomore
Jessica Hewitt was tagged with the loss after giving up 11 runs in three innings of work.
Ferraro was 4-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored while Caputo went 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
Wright, senior
Carolyn Clites and Hewitt all had a hit for the Cyclones.
Centenary is back in action on Monday, April 2 when it travels to Cedar Crest for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
