Cyclones Advance to CSAC Championship Game With Win Over Ravens

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior Amanda Benoit and junior Chloe Christopher each scored two goals to lead the Centenary University women's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Rosemont College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, Centenary advances to the CSAC Championship game for the first time since 2016 and for the fifth time in program history.

Benoit also added an assist on the game's first goal giving her 11 helpers on the season and 44 assists for her career. Already the Centenary career assists leader, Benoit tied the CSAC record for career assists on the play (Ashley Hackman – Eastern).

Christopher struck for her first of two goals at the 8:18 mark to give the home team an early lead. Benoit picked up the helper on the goal.

The Cyclones added to their lead just over two minutes later as Benoit scored off a long leading pass from fellow senior Kara LaPolice.

A free kick from junior Raeanna Cope at 22:03 turned into the defender's second goal of the season and gave Centenary a 3-0 advantage.

The Cyclones capped the first half scoring with a goal from junior Haley Hobbs at the 40:54 mark with freshman Amanda Lebelt picked up the helper on that one.

Centenary carried that 4-0 lead into the half as the Cyclones held a 13-0 advantage in shots during the first 45 minutes of play.

Benoit and Christopher each struck for their second goals of the game during the second half. Benoit's was assisted by Lebelt while LaPolice picked up the helper on Christopher's tally.

Freshman Rachel Colt needed to make just one save in the second half to secure the 6-0 shutout for the Cyclones. It was Centenary's 11th shutout of the season which ties the 2011 squad for the most in single-season history.

Emma Lindsay made seven saves in the loss for Rosemont.

The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 3 as they host CSAC Championship game. Top seeded Centenary will take on No. 2 Cedar Crest at 1 p.m.
