Men's Soccer Suffers Tough Loss at Keystone in CSAC Semifinals

LA PLUME, Pa. – Three first half goals lifted Keystone College to a 3-1 win over the Centenary University men's soccer in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal action on Saturday night.

Both teams battled early as the Cyclones had three shots in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Keystone broke through first as Khadim Thiam scored for the Giants at 21:36.

Just over three minutes later, Keystone pushed its lead to 2-0 as Andrew Lupinacci slipped one into the back of the net.

Daniel Zuniga pushed the home team's advantage to 3-0 with a goal at 32:05.

Keystone carried that 3-0 advantage into the half despite the Cyclones holding a 7-5 advantage in the shots category.

Senior Devon Warne picked up a save in the first 45 minutes of action for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones took four shots in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza, including a pair from sophomore Eric Nugent but were unable to find the back of the net.

Centenary got on the board 62:23 with an own goal.

The Cyclones continued to put up the shots but were unable to find the back of the net again as Keystone claimed the 3-1 victory.

Erik Gomez made two saves to earn the win in goal for the Giants. Warne finished with the one save in the loss.

Centenary held a 17-9 advantage in shots in the game. Senior Jared Miele led the Cyclones with four shots while Nugent, senior Josh Weiss and sophomore Daisuke Suzuki all took three.

The Cyclones finished their first season under head coach Josh Spivack with an 8-9 mark.
