Colt Makes 20 Saves As Women's Soccer Falls to Stockton

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Freshman Rachel Colt made a career-best 20 saves as the Centenary University women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to Stockton University on Tuesday afternoon in nonconference action.

Colt's 20 stops are tied for fifth most in single-game history at Centenary. The last Cyclone goalkeeper with 20 or more saves in a game was Coree Rueter, who had 20 saves against Delaware Valley in 2005.

Centenary struck first in the game as they got an own goal in the fourth minute of action.

Stockton (11-3-3) responded with three straight goals in a run that bridged the first and second halves. The Ospreys' first goal came at the 5:08 mark and was the first goal surrendered by the Cyclones since Sept. 25 against NYU. It snapped a scoreless streak of nearly 550 minutes by Centenary.

Trailing 3-1, Centenary got one back at the 79:42 mark. The Ospreys were hit with a yellow card and on the ensuing free kick, senior Kara LaPolice booted a ball into the back of the net, which made it a 3-2 game.

Stockton tried to increase its one goal advantage over the final 10 minutes but Colt stood tall for the Cyclones with three big saves in goal.

Nicole Pallante did not make a save while picking up the win in goal for Stockton. Colt made nine saves in the first half and 11 in the second stanza.

The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 as they travel to Cairn at 2:30 p.m.
