RADNOR, Pa. – Big first and third quarters lifted Cabrini University to a 61-32 win over the Centenary University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Senior
Rachel Edwards led the Cyclones with seven points and four rebounds.
With the game tied at 5-5 in the first quarter, Cabrini went on a 10-2 run and took a 15-7 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Lexi Edwards had five points for the Cavaliers during that key run.
Cabrini pushed its lead to 23-8 on a lay-up from
Sabrina Hackendorn at 7:37 of the second quarter. Centenary used a 5-0 run to pull to within 11, 25-16 with 4:23 left in the stanza.
Meghan Matthews hit a pair of shots from the foul line which gave the home team a 31-17 lead at 2:02.
Rachel Edwards scored three of the final four points in the stanza for the Cyclones. Cabrini took a 31-21 lead at the half.
Cabrini outscored Centenary 18-3 in the third quarter and pushed its lead to 49-24 with 10 minutes to play.
The two teams battled in the fourth quarter, however Cabrini held a 12-8 edge in the stanza. That allowed the Cavaliers to claim the 61-32 win.
Cabrini shot 33.8 percent from the field and hit six three-pointers. Centenary posted a 23.5 field goal percentage and was 8-for-14 from the foul line. Cabrini held a 47-40 edge in the rebounding battle.
Edwards added three blocks to go with her seven points and four rebounds for the Cyclones. Senior
Amber Reisenwitz contributed six points five rebounds and two assists while sophomore
Dayna Wich had five rebounds.
Nomi Washington had a game-high 15 points and four steals to lead Cabrini.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 31 when they travel to Cedar Crest for a 7 p.m. game.
