LaBelle and Joseph Lead Centenary in Loss at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – Tyheim Monroe posted a triple-double to lead Cabrini University to a 92-64 win over the Centenary University men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Freshman Chris LaBelle led the Cyclones with 20 points and five rebounds.

Cabrini jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead on a three-pointer from Keith Blassingale at 17:07. A 4-2 run highlighted by a lay-up from senior Hamp Smith pulled the Cyclones to within six, 12-6 at 15:43. Cabrini responded by scoring seven of the next nine points in the game and pushed its lead to 19-8 with 13:54 left in the half.

A sharp shooting Cavaliers squad continued to push the ball offensively and took its largest lead of the half, 43-13 after connecting on a pair of free throws at 3:24.
The home team eventually took 51-28 lead at the half.

The two teams continued to battle in the second half but the Cyclones were unable to overcome the halftime deficit. Centenary closed the game on an 8-0 run as freshman Kyle Benvenuto connected on a pair of free throws.

Cabrini shot 57.4 percent from the field and hit nine three-pointers in the game. The Cavaliers were also 13-for-17 from the foul line. Centenary posted a 35.9 field goal percentage and connected on six three-pointers. The Cyclones were 12-for-23 from the charity stripe. Cabrini held a 44-33 advantage in the rebounding battle.

LaBelle posted his sixth game of the season with 20 or more points. Fellow freshman Larry Joseph added 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Monroe finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead Cabrini.

The Cyclones will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 31 when they travel to Cairn University for an 8 p.m. game.
