Stefura Notches Seven Saves in Loss to William Paterson

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Sept. 6, 2017)- Sophomore Justine Stefura (Port Reading, N.J. / WoodBridge) made seven saves as the Centenary University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to William Paterson University, 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon at J.E. Reeves Jr. Field.

Marisa Adelman took a game-high 11 shots and notched a goal for the Pioneers who improve to 2-1 overall. Senior Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan), junior Sandy Sosa (Colonia, N.J. / John F. Kennedy), junior Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) and sophomore Chloe Christopher (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) each tallied a shot for the Cyclones who fall to 2-1 overall.

The Pioneers notched two goals apiece in each half from four different scorers. Centenary was held to just one shot until very late in the contest.

Centenary's best chance to score came late in the contest when Sosa hit the post followed by J. Benoit hitting the crossbar.

Stefura and senior Kaitlin Marold (Edison, N.J. / Edison) combined for 11 of the Cyclones 13 saves. The other two were tallied as team saves as sophomore Brittany Gray (Athol, Mass. / Mahar) knocked a header off the line from Adelman in the 5th minute and a WPU defender stopped a shot from her teammate at the 35th minute mark.

Head Coach Kevin Davies and the Cyclones will return to action in Mahwah, N.J. on Wednesday, Sept. 13th against the Roadrunners of Ramapo College at 3:00 p.m.
