LANGHORNE, Pa. (Apr. 21, 2017)- Sophomore
Ashley Eisenstein (Freehold, N.J. / Freehold Township) went 3-for-7 with six RBI's and two runs scored as the Centenary University softball team stretched their winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Cairn University on Friday afternoon.
The Cyclones improve to 12-16 overall and 10-6 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, while the Highlanders fall to 11-15 overall and 1-15 in the CSAC.
GAME 1: Centenary 12, Cairn 0 (5 Inn.)
Freshman
Justine Stefura (Port Reading, N.J. / WoodBridge) went 4-for-4 with four RBI's and four runs scored, while fellow classmate
Juli Wright (Colonia, N.J. / Colonia) went 3-for-4 with an RBI and senior
Jamie Weingarten (Kendall Park, N.J. / South Brunswick) went 2-for-3 with three runs scored as the Cyclones allowed only five hits in the shutout victory.
Centenary scored 12 runs on 13 hits, including posting at least two runs in three out of the four innings played.
Wright helped the Cyclones take a 2-0 lead in the first with an RBI single that scored junior
Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights). Centenary extended their lead to 8-0 after recording three runs on three hits in both the second and third innings. Stefura tallied three RBI's in both innings, posting a two run double in the second and a single in the third.
The Cyclones stretched their lead to 12-0 with four runs on four hits, including RBI's from Stefura, freshman

Hewitt went 3-for-4 with three RBI's and a run scored, while Eisenstein went 2-for-4 with four RBI's and two runs scored. Wright and senior
Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) both went 2-for-3 with two RBI's as the Cyclones run ruled the Highlanders in game two.
In the blink of an eye, the Cyclones went up 8-0 in the top half of the first with eight runs on only three hits and three errors. After three straight errors loaded the bases for Centenary, Wright recorded an RBI when Cairn walked in a run. Hewitt took advantage of the bases loaded opportunity and drove in two runs for a 3-0 lead. Raychel Piserchia (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Queen of Peace) reached on a walk, Wilson recorded two RBI's on an error by the Highlanders second baseman. Stefura drew the fifth walk of the inning, which again set up a bases loaded situation for Eisenstein. Eisenstein would clear the bases with a three run RBI double to left center that scored Stefura, Wilson and Piserchia.
Centenary continued to rack up the tallies in the hit column with another six runs on nine hits in the third, including RBI's from Eisenstein, Clites, Wright and Hewitt. Â At that juncture in the contest, the Cyclones held a commanding 14-1 lead.The Highlanders were able to get two runs back in the bottom of the fifth with a two run RBI double.
Hewitt improved to 5-8 overall with five strikeouts and only three earned runs. Â
