HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Apr. 13, 2017)- Juniors
Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights) and
Sammie Darling (Succasunna, N.J. / Roxbury) combined for five hits, two runs scored and an RBI as the Centenary University softball team was swept by Marywood University in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. The Pacers improve to 10-13 overall and 10-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, while the Cyclones fall to 7-15 overall and 5-5 in the CSAC.
GAME 1: Marywood 13, Centenary 3 (5 Inn.)

Juli Wright (Colonia, N.J. / Colonia, and sophomore
Amanda Fox (Unionville, Conn. / Farmington) all recorded a hit as the Cyclones scattered three runs on five hits and were mercy ruled in game one.
The Pacers came out strong with 10 runs on 12 hits in the first two innings. Centenary recorded their first run of the afternoon, when Fox tallied her first RBI of the season that scored Darling. Marywood held an 11-1 lead in the third, when the Cyclones were able to get two runs back with RBI singles from Darling and Wright. Marywood added two insurance runs in the fourth for a 13-3 lead.
GAME 2: Marywood 12, Centenary 0 (6 Inn.)
Clites went 2-for-3, while both Darling and freshman
Justine Stefura (Port Reading, N.J. / WoodBridge) each recorded a hit as the Cyclones scattered four hits over six innings and were shut out in game two.
Marywood struck early in the nightcap as well, scoring four runs on four hits in the first two innings for a 4-0 advantage. The Pacers actually did more damage later in the contest with six runs on six hits and batted around the order in the top of the sixth.
Darling struck out three batters in the complete game loss for Centenary.
