Jessica Hewitt (Waretown, N.J. / Southern Regional) both recorded two hits apiece as the Centenary University softball team was swept in a doubleheader against Montclair State University on Thursday afternoon. The Redhawks improve to 7-5 overall, while the Cyclones fall to 2-10 overall.

Justine Stefura (Port Reading, N.J. / WoodBridge), junior
Ashley Eisenstein (Freehold, N.J. / Freehold Township) and junior
Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights) all tallied a hit as the Cyclones scattered six hits over seven innings and were held scoreless in the game one loss.
The Redhawks scored seven runs on nine hits, including homeruns in the second and fifth innings. Centenary's best chance to score came in the fifth when both Stefura and Eisenstein smacked back-to-back singles that put runners on first and second for Clites. Unfortunately, Clites would end the inning when she grounded into an unassisted out at first.
Sam Keating improved to 2-2 after tossing a complete game shutout with three strikeouts and took the decision for MSU. Hewitt remains winless, but managed to strike out four batters in the process.
GAME 2: Montclair St. 8, Centenary 0 (5 Inn.)
Hewitt and sophomore
Amanda Fox (Unionville, Conn. / Farmington) each recorded a hit as the Cyclones tallied just two hits over five innings in the nightcap loss.
MSU scored eight runs on nine hits, including a second homerun from Valentina Cucci as the Redhawks run ruled the Cyclones in game two. Centenary nearly got a run across in the fifth, when Hewitt singled to the shortstop and then advanced to second on a passed ball. Fox's first hit of the afternoon moved Hewitt into scoring position at third, but back-to-back outs ended the Cyclones opportunity.
Courtney Politz improved to 3-1 with four strikeouts during four innings of scoreless softball for MSU. Darling struck out one batter and took the loss for the Cyclones.
