WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (Mar. 11, 2017)- Senior
Nick Daniele (Colts Neck, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic) went 3-for-6 with an RBI as the Centenary University baseball team opened their Florida trip with a doubleheader loss to Dickinison College on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils improve to 6-2 overall, while the Cyclones fall to 0-4.
GAME 1: Dickinson 7, Centenary 2
The Cyclones scored two runs on just three hits, but couldn't overcome the six runs scored in the second and sixth innings of the 7-2 loss.
Centenary actually led 1-0 in the top of the first as junior
John Tierney (West Milford, N.J. / West Milford) Â hit an RBI single to score sophomore
Joe Piscopo (Matawan, N.J. / Matawan), who lead off the game with a double. Dickinsion took their first lead of the game at 2-1 in the bottom of the second with back-to-back RBI's.
Daniele evened the game at 2-2 in the third on an RBI single to score Tierney. The Red Devils responded with a single run in the bottom half of the inning. Dickinson maintained a 3-2 lead entering the sixth, when the Red Devils broke the game open with four runs on four hits to take 7-2 lead.
Junior
James Graziani (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater - Raritan) tossed 4.2 innings and struck out two batters in the loss for Centenary. Ryan Vesel tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts and took the decision for Dickinson. Â Â Â
GAME 2: Dickinson 11, Centenary 1
The Cyclones scattered eight hits over seven innings and scored just one run as the Red Devils overwhelmed Centenary in an 11-1 loss. Centenary trailed 7-0 entering the fourth, when sophomore
Ryan Jasiecki (Ledgewood, N.J. / Roxbury) hit a sacrifice fly to score freshman
Jon Fleck (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional).
Dickinson added fourth insurance runs in the sixth and seven innings, respectively.
Junior
Luis Santiago (Dover, N.J. / Dover) struck out five batters in a relief effort for Centenary. Ben Woodard went six innings the decision for Dickinson. Â Â Â

Scott Kushner and the Cyclones will return to action tomorrow in Auburndale, Fla. against the Corsairs of UMASS-Dartmouth at 6:00 p.m.
