HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Jan. 3, 2017) – Senior
Paul Jones (Trenton, N.J. / Ewing) finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds as the Centenary University men's basketball team won its fourth straight game with a 69-60 victory over Cairn on Tuesday evening.
Sophomore
Jake Logue (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and three steals for the Cyclones who improve to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Gerroid Doughty II totaled 16 points and seven rebounds for the Cyclones who fall to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in the CSAC.
The Cyclones took their largest lead of the game at 41-28 in the opening stanza on back-to-back triples by senior
Zachary Duymich (Millstone Township, N.J. / Allentown) and junior
Rashaan Spencer (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive). Centenary was propelled by their hot shooting into halftime with a 43-33 lead.
In the second half, despite never giving up the lead, Cairn was able to cut the game down to one possession with a 10-2 run to open the half. Centenary recovered by closing the game with a 10-3 run, including five points from Jones at the charity stripe down the stretch.
Spencer finished with 19 points and connected on three triples, while Duymich added eight rebounds, seven points, seven assists and two steals. Duymich is now just 15 assists away from being the school's all-time leader.
