ASTON, Pa. (Jan. 14, 2017)- Junior
Rashaan Spencer (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive) finished with 22 points as the Centenary University men's basketball team dropped a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest to No. 17 Neumann University, 95-56 on Saturday afternoon.
Billy Cassidy connected on eight triples and finished with 28 points for the Knights who improve to 14-1 overall and 8-0 in the CSAC. Senior
Paul Jones (Trenton, N.J. / Ewing) finished with 10 points and six rebounds for the Cyclones who fall to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the CSAC.
The Knights showed why they are nationally ranked from the opening tip, shooting 58.1% from the floor, 45.0% from behind the arc and posting 60 points with nine made triples all in the opening stanza. Neumann held a comfort 60-30 lead at intermission.
In the second half, Neumann continued their hot shooting from the floor and behind the arc, increasing their advantage to as large as 41 points at 90-41 late in the game.
Sophomore
Jake Logue (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) finished with seven points and four rebounds, while junior
Hamp Smith (Allentown, Pa. / William Allen) chipped in with five points. Senior
Zachary Duymich (Millstone Township, N.J. / Allentown) and
Tom Weiler (Old Bridge, N.J. / Bishop George Ahr) added four points in the loss. DeShawn Lowman and Darian Barnes both totaled 16 points, while Carl Wallace added 12 points for Neumann.
