Raymond Shines as Softball Sweeps Rosemont


ROSEMONT, Pa. (Apr. 8, 2016)- Junior Becca Raymond (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) posted  a .857 batting average with six hits, six runs scored, four RBI's, two doubles  and one triple as the Centenary College softball team recorded 26 runs in a sweep of Rosemont.

Sophomore Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights) posted a .714 batting average with five hits, three RBI's and two runs scored for the Cyclones who improve to 5-10 overall and 5-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Brianna Macauley went 2-for-2 with a run scored for the Ravens who fall to 0-12 overall and 0-8 in the CSAC.

Game 1: Centenary 10, Rosemont 1 (5 Inn.)
Raymond and Clites both went 3-for-4 with two RBI's as the Cyclones scored 10 runs on 13 hits in a mercy rule game. Junior Kylie Morgan-Polefka (Wharton, N.J. / Boonton) recorded her first homerun of the season and picked up her second pitching victory.
Centenary scored eight of their 10 runs during the third and fourth innings, including racking up five runs on five hits in the fourth.

Junior Katie Lauria (Middlesex, N.J. / Middlesex) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while sophomore Ashley Eisenstein went 1-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored.  

Game 2: Centenary 16, Rosemont 1 (5 Inn.)
 The Cyclones outdid themselves in the night cap of this afternoon's doubleheader. Centenary totaled 16 runs on 16 hits, including totaling 10 runs over the third and fourth innings. In fact, the Cyclones scored at least two runs in each inning of the 15 run victory.

Raymond went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBI's, as the junior was a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle. Eisenstein went 3-for-4 with two RBI's, while Clites, sophomore Sammie Darling (Succasunna, N.J. / Roxbury), sophomore Skye Kent-Suarez (Allentown, Pa. / William Allen) and junior Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) all recorded two hits apiece in the victory.

Lauria improved to 2-0 with four strikeouts and no earned runs in a complete game victory.

Head Coach Kim Broking and the Cyclones will return to action in Gwnyedd Valley, Pa. against the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy University at 12:00 p.m.
