IMMACULATA, Pa. (Apr. 7, 2016)- Senior
Trevor Krupinski (Lincoln Park, N.J. / Boonton) totaled four points on three goals and one assist as the Centenary College men's lacrosse team recorded its fourth straight victory with a 10-8 defeat of Immaculata University.
Senior
Joey DeBiasse (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) and junior
Nolan Gottshall (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) each recorded two goals apiece for the Cyclones who improve to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Matt Krewson and Mike Reardon each netted three goals apiece for the Mighty Macs who fall to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the CSAC.
Krupinski and DeBiasse led the way for Centenary in the first half with two goals apiece. After Immaculata evened the contest at 3-3 with 5:00 remaining in the second quarter, the Cyclones answered with three straight goals, including two from DeBiasse, to take their largest lead at 6-3. Immaculata was able to score late in the half, as Centenary held a 6-4 advantage at halftime.
Gottshall opened the second half with a goal to stretch Centenary's lead to 7-4 with 12:36 remaining. Immaculata responded with two goals to close the third quarter and two goals to open the fourth quarter, as the Mighty Macs tied the game at 8-8 with 9:01 remaining.
Krupinski completed his hat-trick and ultimately scored the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter, as the Cyclones took a 9-8 lead with 5:45 remaining. Junior
Michael Balsamo (Jackson, N.J. / Jackson Memorial) scored an insurance goal late in the fourth quarter, as the Cyclones won their third straight CSAC contest and remained undefeated in conference play.
Sophomore
Michael Muff (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) finished with three assists, while Gottshall finished with four groundballs and a caused turnover. Sophomores
Denzel Thompson (Montclair, N.J. / Montclair),
James Iwanicki (Gloucester, Mass. / Ipswich) and
Spencer Stachowiak (Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air) all totaled two groundballs apiece, while senior
Kevin Switzer (Hillsdale, N.J. / Pascack Valley) made six saves in 60 minutes of work.
