Gottshall Nets Six Goals as Men’s Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight



HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Apr. 10, 2016)- Junior Nolan Gottshall (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) totaled seven points on six goals and one assist as the Centenary College men's lacrosse team won its fifth straight game with a 17-3 defeat of Keystone College.

Senior Trevor Krupinski (Lincoln Park, N.J. / Boonton) and sophomore Denzel Thompson (Montclair, N.J. / Montclair) both totaled five points on four goals and one assist for the Cyclones who improve to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Pat Hash finished with three goals for the Giants who fall to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the CSAC.

The Cyclones dominated the undermanned Giants from the opening faceoff. Centenary held Keystone scoreless for the entire first half, including outshooting the Giants 31-9 for a 10-0 halftime lead.

The Cyclones went a perfect 17-for-17 on clears, while the Giants didn't crack 50%, going 12-for-25. Senior Joey DeBiasse (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) scored his 100 career points on an assist to junior Michael Balsamo (Jackson, N.J. / Jackson Memorial) during a seven goal first quarter.

Sophomore Michael Muff (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) totaled two points on a goal and assist, while adding a team-high six groundballs. Gottshall and Krupinski each totaled five groundballs and a caused turnover, while freshman Chris Snow (Roxbury, N.J. / Roxbury) added a goal and assist. Sophomore Spencer Stachowiak (Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air) finished four groundballs and three caused turnovers, while freshman Jon Howell (Bear, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) totaled three caused turnovers.  

Freshman Chance Hemphill (Dover, Del. / Smyrna) went 7-for-13 on faceoffs and senior Kevin Switzer (Hillsdale, N.J. / Pascack Valley) made nine saves in 54:51.  Freshman Riley Hill (Old Saybrook, Conn. / Old Saybrook) played the final 5:09 and made a career-high three saves.  

Head Coach Matthew Klank and the Cyclones will return to action in Gwynedd Valley, Pa. on Saturday, Apr. 16 against the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy University at 12:00 p.m.
