Softball Splits Doubleheader with Immaculata



HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Apr. 16, 2016)- Sophomore Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights) went 4-for-6 with two RBI's and a run scored as the Centenary College softball team split a doubleheader with the Mighty Macs of Immaculata University.  The Cyclones record now stands at 6-15 overall and 6-6 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Mighty Macs record now stands at 8-16 overall and 7-5 in the CSAC.

Game 1: Centenary 10, Immaculata 2 (5 Inn.)
Junior Becca Raymond (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) went 3-for-4 with two RBI's, while sophomores Ashley Eisenstein (Freehold, N.J. / Freehold Township) and Skye Kent-Suarez (Allentown, Pa. / William Allen) both went 2-for-3 with two RBI's as the Cyclones totaled 10 runs on 14 hits in a mercy rule first game.   

The Cyclones scored at least one run in each inning, as junior Kylie Morgan-Polefka (Wharton, N.J. / Boonton) tossed a complete game victory with only two earned runs and three strikeouts.  Centenary posted six doubles, including two apiece from Raymond and Eisenstein.

Game 2: Immaculata 13, Centenary 4 (6 Inn.)
Junior Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) and Morgan-Polefka were the only Cyclones to record at least two hits as the Mighty Macs totaled 13 runs on 19 hits in their game two decision.  Centenary was held scoreless through the first five innings, as Immaculata hit a three run homer in the fourth followed by a two run homer in fifth.

The Cyclones were able to get some runs back in the fifth, as Eisenstein, Morgan-Polefka and Clites all posted RBI's during a four run and five hit inning.  Immaculata responded in the sixth with four runs on five hits to a 13-4 lead.

Head Coach Kim Broking and the Cyclones will return to action in Scranton, Pa. on Tuesday, Apr. 19 against the Pacers of Marywood University at 3:00 p.m.
