GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. (Apr. 14, 2016)- Sophomore Skye Kent-Suarez (Allentown, Pa. / William Allen) went 4-for-6 with a run batted in and a triple as the Centenary College softball team was swept by Gwynedd-Mercy University. The Griffins improve to 16-6 overall and 7-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Cyclones fall to 5-14 overall and 5-5 in the CSAC.

Game 1: Gwynedd-Mercy 9, Centenary 7
Kent-Suarez and sophomore Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights) both recorded two hits apiece as the Cyclones scored seven runs on nine hits. The Cyclones rallied from an early 3-0 deficit, with three runs on three hits in the fourth. Junior Kylie Morgan-Polefka (Wharton, N.J. / Boonton), Kent-Suarez and sophomore Raychel Piserchia (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Queen of Peace) all hit RBI's to give Centenary their first lead of the afternoon at 5-3.

The Griffins responded in the bottom half of the inning with four runs on seven hits to regain the lead at 7-5. After Centenary capitalized on an error to close the deficit to 7-6, the Griffins scored two insurance runs in the fifth to take a 9-6 lead.

The Cyclones had a chance to win the game in the seventh with a bases loaded situation. Alyssa Morales, who tossed a complete game for the Griffins, was able to get the Cyclones to pop up for the final out.

Game 2: Gwynedd-Mercy 2, Centenary 0
Sophomore Sammie Darling (Succasunna, N.J. / Roxbury) had her best outing of the season in the circle. Despite the loss, Darling pitched four scoreless innings while only allowing one earned run in the process.  Junior Becca Raymond (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) and Jamie Weingarten (Kendall Park, N.J. / South Brunswick), along with Kent-Suarez, all recorded two hits apiece, as the Cyclones were shutout in game two.

The Cyclones' had the best chance to win in the top of the seventh. After junior Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) walked, sophomore Ashley Eisenstein
(Freehold, N.J. / Freehold Township)
and Raymond recorded back-to-back singles to load the bases for Clites. The Griffins decided to make a call to the bullpen and bring in Morales for the save. Morales was able to get the save with Wilson getting forced out at home and Morgan-Polefka grounding out to end the game.

Head Coach Kim Broking and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 16, hosting the Mighty Macs of Immaculata University at 1:00 p.m.
