NEWARK, N.J. (Mar. 26, 2016) - The Centenary College baseball team spilt a doubleheader with the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers-Newark at Riverfront Stadium on Saturday. The Cyclones now stand at 9-7 overall, while the Scarlet Raiders now stand at 7-10 overall record.

Centenary 4, Rutgers-Newark 1
Despite a low hitting performance, the Cyclones dominated game one with a 4-1 victory. Centenary led wire-to-wire and scored all their runs in the first two innings.

Freshman Trey Hinkle (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) tossed another complete game with 10 strikeouts, while allowing no earned runs or walks and nearly throwing a perfect game in the process. Junior Nick Daniele (Colts Neck, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic) and sophomore Kevin Sensale (Bartonsville, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) drove in RBI's for the Cyclones, as Centenary took a 4-0 lead and never looked back.

 Rutgers-Newark 3, Centenary 1
In the final game of the series, Ryan McFarlane tossed an overpowering complete game as the Cyclones could only get one run across the dish.

The game remained scoreless into the fourth, when sophomore John Tierney (West Milford, N.J. / West Milford) hit a double to center field and then was driven home by Daniele for a 1-0 lead. The Scarlet Raiders answered in the bottom of the fifth, when they totaled three runs on two hits.

Head Coach Scott Kushner will return to action in Immaculata, Pa. on Fri. Apr. 1 against the Mighty Macs of Immaculata University at 3:00 p.m.
