Rabenstein Nets Hat-Trick as Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. (Mar. 25, 2016)- Senior Kristen Rabenstein (Spring Grove, Pa. / Spring Grove) netted a hat-trick as the Centenary College women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest to Purchase College, 19-7.

Zoe Hines finished with six points on five goals and one assist for the Panthers who improve to 3-1 overall. Rabenstein added four groundballs, four caused turnovers and four draw controls for the Cyclones who fall to 3-5 overall.

Senior Devin Sutko (Cinnaminson, N.J. / Cinnaminson) assisted on the only two Cyclones goals in the first half by fellow classmate Carlie Schmitt (Stewartstown, Pa. / Kennard-Dale) and junior Abby Voelkner (Denville, N.J. / Morris Knolls). After Schmitt tied the game up at 1-1 with 23:18 remaining, the Panthers scored seven unanswered goals to take a 9-2 lead at halftime.

Rabenstein scored all three goals in the second stanza, as Purchase opened the half with seven unanswered goals before Rabenstein netted back-to-back goals.

Voelkner added five draw controls and two caused turnovers, while junior Priscilla Ortiz (Denville, N.J. / Morris Knolls) totaled three draw controls. Cynthia Plackis made nine saves and recorded the decision, while freshman Renee Hack (Old Bridge, N.J. / Bishop George Ahr) made 10 saves in 60 minutes of work.

Head Coach Julie Moir and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 2, hosting the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland at 3:00 p.m.
