Voelkner Posts Hat-Trick as Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Neumann


ASTON, Pa. (Mar. 19, 2016)- Junior Abby Voelkner (Denville, N.J. / Morris Knolls) posted a hat-trick, along with four groundballs and five draw controls as the Centenary College women's lacrosse team fell to Neumann University, 18-6.

Rebecca Dolenti scored six goals for the Knights who improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Senior Carlie Schmitt (Stewartstown, Pa. / Kennard-Dale) scored two goals for the Cyclones who fall to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the CSAC.

After Schmitt notched the first goal of the afternoon, Neumann responded with four unanswered goals for a 4-1 advantage with 21:32 remaining in the first half. Schmitt and Voelkner each added a goal to close the deficit to 4-3 with 13:58 remaining. Neumann finished the half with four unanswered goals for an 8-3 halftime lead.

The Knights ran away with the game in the second half, as Centenary only managed to score three goals, two from Voelkner and one from senior Erica Tripp (Vernon, N.J. / Vernon).

Becca Wallace made eight saves in 60 minutes of work, while freshman Renee Hack (Old Bridge, N.J. / Bishop George Ahr) posted 20 saves in 60 minutes of work. Hack added eight groundballs, while senior Kristen Rabenstein (Spring Grove, Pa. / Spring Grove) finished with six groundballs.

Head Coach Julie Moir and the Cyclones will return to action in Bryn Athyn, Pa. on Monday, Mar. 21 against the Lions of Bryn Athyn College at 3:30 p.m.
