Kevin Switzer (Hillsdale, N.J. / Pascack Valley) made 19 saves as the Centenary College men's lacrosse team snapped a two game losing streak with a 12-4 victory over Delaware Valley University.
Junior
Michael Balsamo (Jackson, N.J. / Jackson Memorial) netted four goals for the Cyclones who improve to 3-2 overall. Jordan Smith scored two goals for the Aggies who fall to 1-3 overall.
Despite the final score, the game was very even with Centenary narrowly edging Delaware Valley in shots, clears and groundballs. Switzer was the difference marker in the first half, as he stopped 10 shots, including six in the first quarter, to allow the Cyclones to maintain a 5-3 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Balsamo got into the act with two unassisted goals during a four goal run in the third quarter, Centenary lead 9-4 at the start of the fourth quarter. Balsamo added two insurance goals in the fourth with help from sophomore
Michael Muff (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) and freshman
Chris Snow (Roxbury, N.J. / Roxbury).
Junior
Nolan Gottshall (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) totaled four points on two goals and two assists, while adding seven groundballs and a caused turnover. Freshman
Jon Howell (Bear, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) recorded four goals and two caused turnovers, while senior
Trevor Krupinski (Lincoln Park, N.J. / Boonton) totaled a goal with three groundballs and a caused turnover.
Head Coach
Matthew Klank and the Cyclones will return to action in Newburgh, N.Y. on Saturday, Mar. 19 against the Knights of Mount Saint Mary's College at 1:00 p.m.
