Rashaan Spencer (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive) knocked down five triples to finish with 23 points as the Centenary College men's basketball team fell to Rosemont College, 81-72 in the CSAC quarterfinals.
Clayton Wolfe finished with 25 points and six rebounds for the Ravens who improve to 13-13 overall and will advance to the Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinals on Wednesday. Sophomore
Myles McLeod (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) finished with 11 points and four rebounds for the Cyclones who finish the season at 14-12 overall.
Spencer knocked down three triples in an extremely close first half to lead all scorers with 11. Senior
Deshawn Batts (Piscataway, N.J. / Pacific) provided a spark off the bench for the Cyclones with eight points, including a layup at the two minute mark to give Centenary a 30-29 advantage. Spencer connected on his third triple late in the half, which propelled the Cyclones to a 37-32 halftime lead.
The second half was extremely tight as well, after the Ravens opened with a 7-0 run that erased the Cyclones halftime advantage. CSAC Player of the Year Marcus Thomas and Wolfe combined for 33 of Rosemont's 49 points in the second half.
The Cyclones went back and forth with the Ravens until a 15-4 run in the final four minutes sealed the game.
Senior
Hanif Holloway (North Plainfield, N.J. / North Plainfield) finished with seven points and eight rebounds, while Batts totaled nine points, four rebounds and four assists. Thomas scored 17 points in the second half to finish with 21 points.
