Men's Basketball Clinches Spot in Postseason with Victory over Cairn

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Feb. 13, 2016)- Sophomore Myles McLeod (Teaneck, N.J. / Teaneck) scored 18 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as the Centenary College men's basketball team clinched a spot in the playoffs with a 68-52 over Cairn University.

Sophomore Rashaan Spencer (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive) finished with 11 points for the Cyclones who improve to 13-10 overall and 9-7 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Gerroid Doughty finished with 21 points for the Highlanders who fall to 9-14 overall and 5-11 in the CSAC.

The Cyclones started off slow as the Highlanders took an early 7-3 lead with 13:50 remaining. Once Centenary got warmed up, they picked up the pace and closed the half on a 20-6 run to give them a 41-27 advantage at halftime.

The Cyclones continued their torrid pace by opening the second half on a 13-5 run to take their largest lead of the game at 54-32 with 13:50 remaining.

Centenary would remain in control for the rest of the contest, despite making only three field goals in the final eight minutes.

Senior Hanif Holloway (North Plainfield, N.J. / North Plainfield) and junior Zachary Duymich (Millstone Township, N.J. / Allentown) both finished with five points and six rebounds apiece, while freshman Tom Weiler (Old Bridge, N.J. / Bishop George Ahr) led all bench scorers with nine points.

Head Coach Tim Fusina and the Cyclones will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 17th, hosting the Giants of Keystone College for Senior Night at 7:00 p.m.
