NEW YORK, N.Y. (Dec. 12, 2016)- Junior
Rashaan Spencer (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive) scored his 1000
th point and finished with 16 points and five rebounds as the Centenary University men's basketball team won its third straight game with a 75-65 victory over John Jay College on Monday evening.
Sophomore
Jake Logue (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) finished with 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Cyclones who improve to 7-4 overall. Essien Epps totaled 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Bloodhounds who remain winless at 0-9 overall.
Despite a slow start from Spencer, he scored his 1000
th point at the 5:38 mark with the Cyclones trailing 25-23. The Hackettstown native scored all 10 of his first half points in the final five minutes; including a three pointer in transition to give Centenary a 37-35 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Centenary used a 15-3 run over a 5:31 span to take a 66-54 lead with 1:27 remaining in the contest.
Senior
Paul Jones (Trenton, N.J. / Ewing) finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, while fellow classmate
Zachary Duymich (Millstone Township, N.J. / Allentown) finished with 10 points, seven assists and three steals. Senior
Kyle Smith (Warwick, N.Y. / Burke Catholic) nailed two triples and totaled eight points off the bench for the Cyclones. MiKing Richardson and Wyatt Harkins both totaled 13 points apiece for the Bloodhounds.
