Emily Pizzuto (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) recorded three shots as the Centenary University women's soccer team had their six game winning streak stopped with a 3-0 loss to Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon.
Alex Garces finished with two assists for the Cavaliers who improve to 9-5-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Junior
Kaitlin Marold (Edison, N.J. / Edison) made six saves for the Cyclones who fall to 8-6 overall and 7-3 in the CSAC.
Cabrini dominated the first half by outshooting Centenary, 7-3. Marold kept the game scoreless for the Cyclones as she made four of her six saves over the opening 40 minutes. The Cavaliers would break the scoreless tie in the 43
rd minute as Payton Greene netted a goal off an assist from Diana VanSickle.
Cabrini continued where they left off in the first half, as they scored two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half for a 3-0 advantage.
Cabrini edged Centenary on shots (11-6), shots on goal (9-3) and corner kicks (7-4). Junior
Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) totaled two shots, while sophomore
Kristin Karszen (Manorville, N.Y. / Eastport South Manor) took one. Graces recorded a team-high three shots, while both Greene and Brittany Woolruff tallied two shots apiece.
