Men’s Soccer Runs Unbeaten Streak to Seven with 6-2 Win against Neumann

ASTON, Pa.- (Oct. 15, 2016)- Junior Justin White (Minehill, N.J. / Dover) tallied two goals and one assist to help lead the Centenary University men's soccer team to a 6-2 win against Neumann University in CSAC play.

The Cyclones run their unbeaten streak to seven with six wins in their last seven contests to improve to 8-4-1 overall and 4-0-1 in CSAC play. Neumann drops to 3-11-0 and 1-4-0 in conference play.

Neumann took the lead in the seventh minute to provide Knights with a 1-0 advantage. Senior Luis Marin (Union City, N.J. / Union Hill) pulled Centenary even at 1-1 as he netted a goal in the 16th minute of opening half.

Marin put the Cyclones up in the 24th minute off an assist by junior Bryan Mason (Belvidere, N.J. / Belvidere). Neumann answered less than a minute later to knot the score at 2-2.

Sophomore Josh Weiss (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) put Centenary back in the lead just before the half. Weiss put the Cyclones back in the lead for good with 43 seconds left in the opening half as Centenary held a 3-2 lead at the break.

Centenary dominated the shot total in the second half, holding a 17-5 advantage over the final 45 minutes of the game. The Cyclones added three goals in the second half as White tallied a pair. White netted a goal in the 58th minute of play and tacked on his second tally of the day in the 72nd minute off an assist from sophomore Roger Fernandez (Succcasunna, N.J. / Roxbury).

The Cyclones capped their scoring in the final minutes as Weiss notched his second of the day with junior Richy Castro (Landing, N.J. / Roxbury) earning the assist.

Sophomore Devon Warne (Belvidere, N.J. / Belvidere) was solid in net, recording eight saves in 90 minutes in net.  

Head Coach Keith O'Connor and the Cyclones will return to action on Tuesday, October 18 as they host Cairn University for a 4 pm game.
