BETHLEHEM Pa. – Sophomore
Justin White (Minehill, N.J./ Dover) turned into a hero on Tuesday when the Centenary Cyclones men's soccer team grabbed their second win of the season with a 1-0 victory over the Greyhounds of Moravian College on a penalty kick goal in the 57
th minute.
The Cyclones ended up on the other side of a 1-0 score as senior
Jesse Goleman (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice) recorded his first shutout of the season by making nine saves, with six coming in the first half alone. It was White though who sealed the Cyclones victory, as after a shot by junior
Luis Marin (Union City, N.J. / Union Hill) was blocked, White was fouled inside the box giving him a penalty kick, which he did not miss.
The difference in the game though was defending the corner kick, as Moravian wasn't able to convert on 10 corner tries compared to only two for the Cyclones.
Freshman
Josh Weiss (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) and senior
Makenson Joseph (Haute-Feuille, Merchant Dessalines / Irvington High School) each attempted four shots while both had two stopped by Moravian keeper Brian Boland.
Head Coach
Keith O'Connor and the Cyclones will finish of their road trip on September 19th, when they look to get on a winning streak against the Eagles of Eastern University at 2 p.m.
