La Plume, PA – Centenary's
Carolyn Clites goes 6-for-7 driving in three runs to lead the Cyclones in the pair of wins over Keystone College this afternoon. Centenary now makes it four straight as they improve to 5-13 overall with a perfect 4-0 in league play, while the Giants fall to 4-10 on the season and 2-6 in the CSAC.
Centenary 6, Keystone 4In game one, Centenary found themselves down 2-0 heading into the top of fourth as
Ashley Eisenstein registered an RBI single to score teammate, Clites.
Becca Raymond who reached on a fielder's choice also came around to score after capitalizing on fielding errors.
With the score tied a two apiece, the Giants responded in the bottom of the fourth plating two runs for the 4-2 lead.
Top five and two outs,
Samantha Belmonte keeps the inning going with a single as Clites steps up to the plate to drill a shot over the center field fence to tie the game 4-4.
After keeping the Giants scoreless in the sixth, the Cyclones added two more runs to take the 6-4 lead after recording three hits.
Alexis Wilson scored off of Belmonte's SAC Fly, while Clites continued her worthy performance at the plate with an RBI single to score
Heather Passaro.
Sammie Darling earned the win in relief of
Kylie Morgan-Polefka who pitched four innings as she gave up four runs off of nine hits. Keystone's Kar Worobey threw a complete
game in the loss allowing six runs and seven hits.
Centenary 5, Keystone 1In game two, Centenary kept the bats going as they opened the scoring in the top of the first plating three runs after a two-out rally. Clites, Raymond and
Erin Walsh each tallied doubles to left field, while
Ashley Eisenstein added a single to contribute to the early 3-0 advantage.
The Cyclones would tack on another two runs in the top of the third to push ahead with a 5-0 lead. Belmonte reached on an error before Clites continued her hot hitting at the plate for the single to right center. Both would come around to score after Eisenstein's double and Walsh's groundout.
The Giants would spoil the shutout in the bottom of the third as they strung together four hits scoring one while leaving two stranded.
Darling earned her fourth win of the season after pitching a complete game giving up just one run and striking out two, Worobey suffered her second loss of the day allowing five runs and registering three strikeouts.
Freshman Clites finished the day with a 1.571 slugging percentage along with her first career home run. Eisenstein also added three hits for the Cyclones driving in three runs, while Walsh,
Jamie Weingarten and Belmonte each collected a pair of hits.
Centenary returns to the diamond as they take on Cabrini College in Radnor, PA April 10
