Softball Splits on Day 2 of the Spring Break Rebel Games

Winter Haven, FL – The Centenary College (1-3) softball team split today's games at the Spring Break Rebel Games as they fell to St. Norbert College, 6-3 and defeated Skidmore College, 5-4. 

In game one, St. Norbert would strike first scoring on a RBI single, but the Cyclones answered with two of their own.  In the bottom of the second, Becca Raymond started things off with a single and later scoring on a single by Jamie WeingartenAlexis Wilson would pinch run for Weingarten and make it a 2-1 game after advancing home on a sacrifice bunt by Ashley Eisenstein.

The Cyclones would get one more in the third frame after an RBI single by Erin Walsh sent home Heather Passaro for a 3-1 advantage. 

The Green Knights would keep the Cyclones scoreless the rest of the way and tie the game at by the end of the fifth, before sealing the game in the seventh sending home three runs.

Kylie Morgan-Polefka pitched a complete game for the Cyclones allowing eight hits out of 32 batters faced and two strikeouts.

In game two, Centenary held off a late rally by the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore to earn their first victory of the season.   

After three scoreless frames, Centenary exploded with five runs off of six hits in the top of the fourth.  Sammie Darling started things off with a single and the rest of the Cyclones followed suit.  Heather Passaro and Sam Belmonte singled loading the bases for Erin Walsh.  Walsh would earn her way on base with a walk and with the bases still loaded, Kylie Morgan-Polefka stepped up to the plate only to clear them with a double to left field.

With the Cyclones leading 5-0, Skidmore chipped away at the lead scoring two in the sixth and two more in the seventh.  Centenary held off the Thoroughbreds in the final inning ending the game with a double play. 

Darling notched her first win after pitching six innings allowing two runs on seven hits and one strikeout, while Morgan-Polefka earned the save.
Next up for the Cyclones: Ramapo College @ 10am and Rowan University @ 12:15pm at the Rebel Spring games.
