Seventh Inning Rally Powers Cyclones in Comeback Win

Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary College baseball team (1-0) picked up their first win of the 2015 season as they used five runs in the seventh inning to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham (0-2) 9-7 this afternoon.

With the score tied 1-1 at the end of three, FDU-Florham tacked on two more runs after Christopher Franco homered to left field and Kevin Sinclair scored on a SAC fly for a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cyclones battled back plating three runs as Nick Koffel scored off a wild pitch, followed by Dave Raifsnider's RBI single to left and Ryan Kanner's RBI double to left center sending the go ahead run home (5-4).

The Devils posted four more runs in the top of the seventh to regain the lead 7-4.  FDU-Florham capitalized scoring off of two cyclone errors before an RBI single to right and a walk with bases loaded gave the Devils a 7-4 advantage.

Centenary quickly answered back after three Cyclones targeted the gaps with three consecutive doubles.  Nick Daniele and Davie Raifsnider highlighted the frame as both recorded two-run shots to center field along with a double to right by Kevin Litus.

After scoreless eighth inning, senior Chad Frankenfield stepped onto the mound in the top of ninth and struck out three of the four batters faced to preserve the 9-7 win for the Cyclones.

Daniele was 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and RBI's, while Raifsnider went 2-for-3 tallying three RBI's and a double.  Litus also went 2-for-3 with a double, while Ryan Caparoni registered his first solo homerun of the 2015 season.
