Immaculata, PA – The Centenary College women's basketball team fell to Immaculata University by a final score of 79-40 in tonight's Colonial States Athletic Conference game. With the loss, Centenary drops to 8-16 overall and 7-8 in CSAC play, while Immaculata improves to 15-9 and 12-3 in conference and also locked down the #2 seed in the playoffs.
In the first half, both teams were off to a slow start but at the 11:09 mark with Centenary trailing 15-8, the Mighty Macs found their groove posting a 9-0 run after draining three consecutive three-pointers.
Centenary was held to just 4-for-24 (16 percent) from the floor as they struggled to make baskets, while Immaculata shot a solid 48 percent from the field.
Immaculata continued to push ahead to amass a 32 point lead (45-13) at the break.
After the break, the Mighty Macs picked up right where they left off maintaining the advantage and even though Centenary picked up their offense, the deficit proved too much to overcome.
The Centenary offense was led by
Melissa Rabe who netted 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting, while
Mallory George scored 10 points and four rebounds.
Kelsey Barofski added five points and three rebounds in 16 minutes.
Immaculata had three in double figures, led by Sara Smith who posted a game-high 18 points, Alison Zimny chipped in 13 points and Brittany Merkle finished the night with 10.
Centenary will face Immaculata once again for their final regular season game Friday February 20
th @ 6pm.
